Change a Life Bwindi empowers local communities to create a sustainable and dignified future. Our mission is to build the capacity of people living around Bwindi to enhance their livelihoods and wellbeing through practical, community-driven programs. We support alternative income opportunities, climate adaptation and environmental conservation initiatives. We also invest in formal and vocational education to equip youth and adults with life-changing skills, promote food security through sustainable agriculture, and advocate for human rights to ensure every individual can live with dignity and opportunity.
Central to our mission statement is a focus upon restoring forest habitat in strategic locations that will link to Bwindi forest. Our restoration work is underpinned by our desire to expand wildlife conservation areas, restore degraded farmland, protect existing indigenous vegetation and critically threatened habitats and to embrace community engagement in all aspects of our work.
We employ a comprehensive restoration approach that involves reintroducing native species, removing invasive species, enhancing soil and water quality, and fostering habitat connectivity. We have expertise in all aspects of habitat creation and restoration, namely:
All restoration work is undertaken with advice/inputs of the local community, many of whom are employed on our projects.
